About
Emille de Blanche's sculptures often move in the borderland between the organic and the geometric. Her works are strongly connected to the city, a place that she views as an organism which she explores through sculptural investigations. Interested in the meeting between the organic and the industrial, de Blanche often work with organic structures in combination with industrial materials. Recurring is also themes that deal with the relationship between places, memories and the shared space. The sculptures often form a collage of various motifs and details from the public space, where de Blanche lifts details from their original context and allows them to be transformed in her sculptures. The motifs often reveal something unseen in a new light and create new interpretations and contexts. In her work, de Blanche work from a personal archive of different environments where fragmentary memories of places and details form the starting point for the artistic process. The archive consists of alternative views of the city, of interaction and exploration of common public spaces. The use of industrial materials is central to the process and de Blanche sees it as a direct reflection of the public environment.
